Saturday night we were looking to get high
So we headed on over to the Crazy Horse
Thought it would be rocking but to our surprise
It was as empty as a hole at the old golf course

We knew Lynn Lake wasn’t doing any sleeping
so there must be a party going on someplace
Maddie at the bar said rumour has it
that there’s something going on down at Eldon Lake

Everybody come to the Hat Party
The teachers and the truckers and the church ladies
all get together at the Hat Party

We found every vehicle in town
at the Moberg building by the Calm Air Base
and even Leaf Reefers came around
drove up Life is a Highway .. Highway

The place was a shakin as we left our truck
And headed to the door in the Northern Lights
Someone gave us tickets for the beer we brought
and threw it in a big canoe full of ice

miners and the mayor and the old grannies
all get together at the Hat Party

There was a hollowed out watermelon on Chuck’s head
and the Clarke sisters matched in Egyptian crowns
and of course uncle Ronnie in his ol’ beer hat
and my own mother just boogying down

Patsy took the prize with an inflatable pecker
glued to a red miner’s helmet
And Albert came second with his mother’s brazziere
strapped to his noggin’, it sure was big

We danced to old time rock and roll
and called hey Dave Geddus a beer
The sun came up and someone yelled
